Correspondence and legal documents of Judge Thomas W. Scott of Clinton, East Feliciana Parish, La., concern the dissipation of the estate of Ann M. Scott, formerly married to Caleb Higginbotham, by her husband, John H. Scott of Indianapolis, Ind. The papers include several letters by Ann Scott, who describes her efforts to appoint a lawyer to collect monies owed to her first husband following his death. Letters written after the death of Ann M. Scott in August of 1833 by John H. Scott and others concern the character and ability of the lawyers involved in settling her estate.
